Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Stewart's musical journey began early, influenced by the vibrant sounds of his hometown. His jazz roots permeate every note he sings, bringing a fresh perspective to each piece. Joshua Stewart is a vocalist of extraordinary versatility and talent.

Recently, Stewart made a notable appearance at Chamber Music Athens with jazz legend pianist James Weidman, demonstrating his ability to seamlessly blend classical technique with jazz improvisation. Currently, he is working on his long awaited studio album that promises to highlight his unique style and extensive range.

At just 12 years old, he released Jazz Prodigy, a solo album produced by the legendary trumpeter Milton Batiste, marking the start of his illustrious career.

Stewart's career began with Dejan’s Olympia Brass Band, where he performed at major festivals across New Orleans. His education at the prestigious New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) further honed his skills, placing him among notable alumni such as Wynton Marsalis, Harry Connick, Jr., Jon Batiste, and Troy Andrews. Mentored by jazz luminaries like Milton Batiste, Kidd Jordan, Alvin Batiste, and Donald Harrison Jr., Stewart developed a profound understanding of jazz.

Stewart often tours Spain with the Bourbon Street Stompers Brass Band and appeared on their live concert DVD, Live from the Auditorio de Teulada-Moraira, in 2014. This collaboration reaffirmed his dedication to his jazz roots and his ability to captivate audiences with his dynamic performances.

Influenced by jazz greats such as Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby McFerrin, Rachelle Ferrell, and of course Louis Armstrong, Stewart brings a rich tapestry of inspiration to his performances. These influences are evident in his vocal style, which combines the warmth and elegance of the classic jazz era with contemporary flair.

Stewart's classical training at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees, has also played a significant role in shaping his musical approach. While at Curtis, he performed over 35 operatic roles, which enriched his vocal technique and interpretative skills. Because of his classical background, Stewart's jazz performances are infused with the elegance and precision he honed in the opera house, creating a unique blend that sets him apart in the jazz world.

Stewart has performed in numerous venues worldwide, including Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Poland, the Caribbean, and the United States. His global presence and ability to cross musical genres make him a sought-after artist in both jazz and classical music circles.
